The Almighty "Agathiyaperumal " is also known and worshippped as Shivamsam. He was born in the state of Gujarat.He is said to be originated from Kumbha and considered to be risen from both Sun and Varuna.(Mythra Varuna Puthrayam).He has learnt the Kirantha libiya and Nadi astrology well.He was born in December(Margazhi) with the star Punarvasu(Punarpusam).He is known as the father of Nadi Astrology and considered to be head of all Siddhas.
Mount Kailash was filled and delighted with the marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.All the devas and Sages were gathered to attend the ceremony and get blessings.Due to the crowd the north pole was raised and south pole was lowered in the earth. All devas were in panic and went to Lord Shiva to balance the earth position. Lord Shiva replied to all Devas "Don't Panic".This imbalance of the Earth is caused since all are present here at Mt. Kailash to attend the marriage. To balance of Earth I will send Sage Agasthiya towards south pole.Sage was blessed by Lord Shiva to spread the Dharma along tamil literature through his journey to South.Sage Agasthiya pleaded Lord that all Devas & Sages were blessed to attend the Lord's marriage and he will be missing the event,but Lord Shiva promised him wherever he stands in south and pray him he will blessed with the incarnation of the Duo Lords marriage scene and blessings. Sage agreed and started his journey towards south.
On the way to south Sage came across Mt.Vindhya which grew taller to make the shorter sage Agasthiya to bow and pray him. Sage knowing the arrogance ,grew taller than the mountain and pressed under his feet. Mt.Vindhya realised and pleaded the sage to forgive the mistake. Agasthiya agreed to bring back to normal position. Sage Agasthiya is hereby a message to all humans that "Arrogance is like demon and will destroy human's life in time and whoever get out their arrogance can grow in their life faster" Monsters Vaadhavi and Vilvalavan were killing all sages crossing their ways, seeing the sage they tried to kill him too but failed. Agasthiyar destroyed both the monsters and saved all the sages on the earth.
Sage Agasthiya was crossing the Ponni River flowing in the south.River criticized the shorter sage for the appearance.Agasthiya got angry and captured the whole river inside his Kamandalam and walked towards south.Lord Ganesha noticed this during the meditation of the sage and poured down the water from kamandalam in the form of Crow which started flowing as new river. Sage stood up angry seeing the crow but Lord Ganesha appeared before the sage and asked him to name the new river. Sage renamed Ponni river to River Cauvery and blessed to flow throw Tamilnadu and continued his journey. On his way in a forest he saw some souls were roaming and hanging in trees without attaining Mukthi. Sage asked them who were they and they replied him as sage's ancestors. They were roaming because their souls were not fulfilled with the rituals by him. They asked him to get married and his child has to do the last rights to fulfill their souls. Sage agreed to do get married and continued to Vidharva country. Knowing the sage presence, King of Vidharva requested the sage to attend the Yagna he is conducting for the goodness. He agreed to attend and was performing the poojas for the Yagna. A beautiful girl appeared out of Yagna gundam which the King told he will adopt as his daughter and named her as Lobhamudhradevi. The King also requested the Sage to marry her .To fulfill the wishes of his ancestors he agreed to marry and later both was blessed with boy child and he performed all rituals to his ancestors to attain Mukthi.
Once the devotee Gurunathan (Kumar's Father) has been on the way to his agricultural land to see the sugarcane during summer. He noticed the sudden fire in the land and shouted louder for help from surrounding for help of people to put off the fire but of no use since none were available in surroundings. He prayed Sage Agasthiya to save the crops and astonishingly Sage Agasthiyar appeared before him and booned him with sudden rain in the land area alone to put off the fire. He then disappeared as soon as the rain stopped and fire was completely shut off with rain thus saving the cane crop from huge loss. After hearing this incident Kumar decided to built a temple at his land for Sage Agasthiya along with his wife LobamuthraDevi. The temple was constructed in the year 2020 and the same can be visited by all people for fulfilling their wishes.
